Pirates 3 Script Leaked Online! Confirmed!![]()
Can’t wait for Pirates of the Caribbean 3 to find out what happened to Captain Jack Sparrow? Well, maybe you don’t have to. I’ve been deluged with email from people this morning claiming that the script to the next installment, Pirates of the Caribbean: At World’s End has been leaked online to a suspicious looking MySpace account.
Is it really the script? Odds are the thing’s a fake, though it’s a really well written fake if so. The most striking thing about it to me, is that it seems less like a pirate movie than ever. There’s very little piracy in it, instead it reads more like I’m in the middle of an ocean faring remake of Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas, with shades of Bill & Ted’s Bogus Journey. The Black Pearl carried on the backs of crabs? No thank you. Read it for yourself and decide. Real, or fake? If it gets pulled off the web in the next few hours, then it’s probably real. If it stays up, then that means the studio doesn’t care if it’s out there since it’s a total fraud. Click here to read what may be (but probably isn't) the first 50 pages of the script to Pirates of the Caribbean: At World’s End. UPDATE: Since running the above story yesterday, I received word from a fairly reliable source on the subject of scripts who confirms that, yes indeed, the script on the MySpace link above is the real deal. According to our source (who has asked to remain anonymous for obvious reasons), this is an early, rough draft of the screenplay, but still absolutely genuine. Apparently Disney's lawyers have been scouring the web trying to remove every trace of it from the net for a couple of weeks now. It seems they haven't been entirely successful. |
