Rudd Calls Reno 911
I’ve fully expected for awhile now that 40 Year-Old Virgin and Anchorman co-star Paul Rudd would get sucked into the low-budget, low-attention romantic comedy/drama, second banana circuit that Jason Biggs has mired himself in. Sure he’s funny, but the guy’s good looking and he has charisma. Actors like that invariably end up starring opposite Christina Ricci while she cashes a paycheck.
It hasn’t happened. Instead, Rudd is sticking rather doggedly to the wacky comedies that made him a name (at least in my house). Thank god for that. Piper Perabo doesn’t need any more help making bad romantic movies. MTV reports that Rudd has joined the cast of the upcoming “Reno 911” movie, currently titled Reno 911!: Miami. Last we heard the movie would be peopled with the same cast that made the television show work. But Rudd’s addition means either they’re recasting with slightly bigger names, or they’re just adding in a few new faces to the existing mix. Paul should be a perfect fit in the flick, his style and theirs are a natural mesh. No word on who he’s playing, but I’m hoping they hand him a pair of Reno’s finest short-shorts and a badge. |
