MOVIE NEWS
Singer Replaced Various sites are reporting that Production Weekly is listing Buffyverse mastermind Joss Whedon as the new man to helm X-Men 3. I’d confirm the story in Production Weekly myself except that on my list of things to spend Cinema Blend’s paltry income on, a subscription to Production Weekly falls somewhere below buying a box of Junior Mints. I don’t even like Junior Mints.
People who do spend their money on Production Weekly claim they are almost never wrong, so if true, then someone over at Fox must have been listening when Whedon expressed his interest after Singer’s departure. Right now thousands of Buffy fansites are having a big celebration at the further recognition of Joss’s genius, but I’m still not sold. Buffy had far too much singing and dancing for my tastes and while the episode or two I watched of Angel was sorta ok and the few I saw of Firefly were on their way to being inspired… I require further proof that Joss is worth a damn working outside his personal comfort zone. Maybe X3 will be his chance to prove it. I say maybe, because even if he really is firmly implanted as X3’s director, they still haven’t signed any of the cast nor do they have a script. Halle Berry will only sign if the third movie is all about her and the rest just haven’t had anything to put a pen to yet. Please don’t screw it up and please don’t let your fanboys start Sarah Michelle Gellar as Pheonix casting rumors. I’m not sure I could take it. ![]() Got questions? . SUBMIT A SCOOP |
