Trek Vomits Up More

Star Trek is now officially on par with Highlander. Not content to merely ruin the franchise with two rotting, stinking movies in a row, exec producer Rick Berman is now set to demolish continuity by waving the prequel card.

In a recent and unspecified interview, Berman had the following filth to spew, “There is a film concept that is in discussion, I am very much involved in it. It's in the very early stages of development, so it's really too early to talk about.”

Not content merely to dash the hopes of fans by admitting his close involvement, Berman hinted around that the rumor prequel might be happening, but could not confirm it, only stating that it would be totally unconnected to UPN’s “Enterprise”, which is itself already a prequel. So now we’ll just pretend “Enterprise” doesn’t exist and screw around with continuity further. Lovely. Maybe we can turn Vulcans into tree dwelling sloths this time around. You can be sure Patrick Stewart won’t be involved in such slothery.

Anyway, rumors of another Trek movie, despite the horrible performance of the last one and the non-participation of any cast past or present, have been floating around for awhile. Berman's statements seem to lend some credibility to the chilling rumors. If there are any Trek fans left, I suggest you get into Babylon 5 or the new movie version of "Firefly". Give up, come back when Berman is dead.
