Watch Two Bonus Features From The Dark Knight Rises Blu-ray

The Dark Knight Rises is guaranteed to be one of the biggest Blu-ray releases of the upcoming holiday season, since Christopher Nolan's Gotham is so richly detailed and interesting that it's exactly the kind of thing you want to explore on an elaborate Blu-ray set. Warner Bros. has made some big promises about the kinds of extras we can expect on the set, which arrives December 4, and now we're getting a taste of what to expect, with clips from two bonus features that have been posted online.

Take a look at the two of them below. The first gets into how the visual effects team created the jarring scene of the football stadium exploding, with real-life Pittsburgh Steelers player Hines Ward outrunning Bane's triggering explosions. The second brings in some familiar faces, as Christian Bale and Tom Hardy talk about filming the brutal fight scene between Bane and Batman that happens midway through the film.

We may be talking about The Dark Knight Rises a lot in the coming weeks, as Warner Bros. launches a For Your Consideration campaign for the film that can hopefully get it some attention for its technical work. I know some Batman diehards are holding out hope that The Dark Knight Rises can get the Best Picture nomination that The Dark Knight narrowly missed, but that's not seeming likely so far. That probably doesn't really matter in the end-- The Dark Knight Rises was a solid hit, and the December 4 Blu-ray release ought to make it even bigger-- no Oscar nominations needed to make that happen.
