MOVIE NEWS
Weekend Box Office![]() With so much to offer this weekend, it’s no wonder there’s no really huge winner like the last few weeks. Though this week did hold true towards this summer’s unpredictability with half the top ten bringing $20+ mill. Sequels though are on top as Harry takes the prize followed by Riddick and Shrek. Shrek has breached the top ten highest grossing flicks ever at number nine, and is now the highest grossing animated flick ever laying waste to Nemo. Next week, don’t expect really huge numbers. With Spielberg’s latest takes off, so does yet another Ben Stiller/Vince Vaughn comedy, as well as a remake with quality king Jackie Chan. Doesn’t bode well. Most likely won’t see another huge weekend spike like we did the last 3 weeks until the web slinger hits multiplexes. Anyways, here’s this week’s Top Ten....
1. Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban - $35.1 Million ($158.1M)
2. The Chronicles of Riddick* - $24.6 Million
3. Shrek 2 - $24 Million ($354M)
4. The Stepford Wives* - $22.2 Million
5. Garfield: The Movie* - $21.7 Million
6. The Day After Tomorrow - $14.6 Million ($153.2M)
7. Raising Helen - $3.8 Million ($31.4M)
8. Troy - $3.5 Million ($125.7M)
9. Saved! - $2.6 Million ($3.7M)
10. Mean Girls - $1.5 Million ($81.3M)
