It may take some effort for Twilight fans who loved that the film's stars were a real-life couple to separate fiction from reality enough to support the final film, in the wake of Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart's well publicized split. Entertainment Weekly may be putting that to the test with the cover of these week's issue, which features Stewart and Pattinson cuddled close as Edward and Bella for the magazine's Fall Movie Preview issue.
It's all in the eyes. That's the tell-tale sign of vampirism in the world created by Stephenie Meyer, author of the Twilight series on which these films are based. That, and sparkles, of course. Earlier this week, EW shared a photo from the upcoming final installment to the feature adaptation franchise The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn Part 2, and today we have a look at the cover of the issue, which has Edward and Bella snuggling in a field. Neither are sparkling, but Bella's eyes reveal her new nature.
While I expect the Twilight portion of the issue to focus on the film, there's a "PLUS," as you may note on the left side of the cover. Director Bill Condon will speak out on the topic of "The Scandal & the Stars." EW has already posted some quotes from Condon on their site, including:
“Both of these actors gave heart and soul to the Twilightmovies, not only during shooting, but also by navigating so graciously the whole life-in-a-fishbowl aspect of the phenomenon. Above all they have always shown great respect for the fans who made these movies such a success. Now it’s time that some of that respect be returned to them.”
It should be interesting to see if there's major fan backlash toward the movie when November rolls around, or if things will have settled down enough by then, enough so that fans will flock to the theater to see the story's final chapter play out on the big screen.
EW's Fall Movie Preview issue will feature dozens of other upcoming films (97 more, in fact), including Cloud Atlas, Lincoln and Argo. It hits stands August 10. And The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn Part 2 arrives in theaters November 16. More information on the film can be found in our Blend Film Database.
