The teaser trailer for ParaNorman - a new stop-motion animated film from the company that brought us Coraline - was easily one of my favorite trailers of the year. Featuring almost no sound from the film itself, the preview gave us some great visuals, a sense of tone, and made perfect use of "Season of the Witch" by Donovan. The only thing it really lacked was information about the characters and the story. But I suppose that's why they make theatrical trailers, right?

The UK trailer for ParaNorman has arrived online and you can check it out below, courtesy of MSN.

For obvious reasons this trailer is a bit less stylish then the previous one (I still would have liked to hear the song again) and I've never been a big fan of narration in previews, but I'm still monstrously excited for this one. It appears to be a great mix of adventure and horror and the animation is stellar. The only question I have is whether or not this is a movie targeted towards kids or adults - honestly, it could go either way.

Directed by Chris Butler and Sam Fell, ParaNorman tells the story of a young boy (Kodi Smit-McPhee) who has the strange ability to see the dead as they walk around with the living. But when a curse threatens to destroy his town, it's up to him to stop the forces of evil. The film features the voices of Anna Kendrick, Leslie Mann, Christopher Mintz-Plasse, John Goodman, Casey Affleck, Jeff Garlin and Elaine Stritch. Look for the movie when it hits theaters on August 17, 2012.
