First Trailer For The Tillman Story Documentary

As controversial as the conflict in the Middle East has been, from the lack of WMDs to the Abu Ghraib prison scandal, one of the most polemical issues of the nine year conflict has been the story of Pat Tillman. A football player for Arizona Cardinals for four years, Tillman turned down a $3.6 million contract in order to enlist in the military and fight terrorism in both Iraq and Afghanistan. On April 22, 2004, news came out that Tillman had been killed. Initial reports said that Tillman and his unit had been ambushed and that he had been shot by Afghan forces, but as an investigation began, it became clear that those were not the circumstances of his death.

Yahoo! has released the trailer for The Tillman Story, a documentary directed by Amir Bar-Lev that delves into the government cover-up to make Tillman look like a war hero and increase support for the war. With the amount of drama and intrigue, if you were to tell me that this story was based on a Tom Clancy novel, I would believe you. Following its premiere at this year's Sundance Film Festival, the documentary doesn't currently have a release date scheduled.
