Compared to its predecessor, Horrible Bosses 2 did supremely poorly at the box office. Despite costing $7 million more than the first Horrible Bosses, the sequel wound up bringing in only half the amount of money. It's not exactly hard to figure out why this happened, but Jason Bateman explained it rather perfectly in a recent interview.

Thanksgiving weekend saw two new sequels step up, but neither had anything on last weekend's number one which easily dominated the holiday.

As someone lucky enough to participate in the junket circuit, I can tell you that this is a nightmare scenario. If you treat this gig with any form of, professionalism, you fret over every question that you ask – and you play out in your brain how answers can go right… and how they can go wrong.

I’m not opposed to this idea of franchises mixing and matching their talents in some Avengers-style romp. And not just funny people, but familiar characters who can share adventures.

After the gigantic success of The Hunger Games: Mockingjay – Part 1 at the box office this weekend, it’s going to be tough for any film to be seen as big competition. Still, that’s not stopping two new releases from battling Katniss and friends in its week two, as on Friday we’re getting more horrible bosses and some strange African penguins.

Jennifer Aniston has revealed that she wore a rather risqué necklace in Horrible Bosses 2. But the rest of the cast didn’t recognise the sex toy that was draped across her neck. Except for Jason Sudeikis who instantly recognised her unusual piece of jewelry.

With their Horrible Bosses no longer causing them any trouble, what can a sequel possibly throw Jason Bateman, Charlie Day, and Jason Sudeikis’ way that will cause them grief? Well, according to the trailer, which you can watch in all of its glory above, Horrible Bosses 2 will include sex addiction, car chases, kidnapping and poorly named shower devices. Oh, and laughs. Lots and lots and lots of laughs.

The teaser trailer that was released earlier this summer didn't provide much in the way of describing plot, but now the Horrible Bosses 2 marketing campaign is back, and now we finally have a clue as to what the hell this sequel is all about.

If you're like me, you'll watch this trailer and immediately ask yourself or the people around you, "What the hell is this movie about?" Instead of providing any information about the story, the spot is really only dedicated towards short funny moments that show off the fact that the entire cast of the original is coming back (well, the surviving ones anyway). To get an understanding of what Horrible Bosses 2 is about, I will instead turn things over to the official synopsis:

Jason Bateman, Charlie Day and Jason Sudeikis will be joined by returning stars Jennifer Aniston, Jamie Foxx and Kevin Spacey, who will somehow be reprising their roles, despite the fact that no one should want anything to do with these guys anymore. (Maybe they’ll just show up in the beginning.) Newcomer Chris Pine will star, and the previously rumored Christoph Waltz is confirmed to play Pine’s father.

Set to be directed by Sean Anders (That's My Boy) , the film is actually already in production, but doesn't yet have an official release date. Charlie Day, Jason Bateman and Jason Sudeikis are set to return as best friends Dale, Nick and Kurt, and while it's largely unclear what kind of shenanigans they will be getting up to this time around, Variety says that it will involve an invention of some kind.

One of the biggest questions that has persisted about with the upcoming sequel Horrible Bosses 2 is, “Why?” But once that initial cynicism levels off, movie-goers are left to ponder exactly how and why the trio of lead characters would get themselves mixed up with terrible employers again - and, more importantly, who those employers would be.

Horrible Bosses was a sizable summer hit when it was released back in 2011, pulling in $117 million domestically on a $35 million budget, but New Line is hoping that its sequel will do just as well in a different season.

As of today, Rawson Marshall Thurber’s pot comedy We’re the Millers has grossed over $113 million domestically from a $37 million budget. So it’s not that big of a surprise that New Line is bringing two of that film’s screenwriters, Sean Anders and John Morris, on board to take over another vulgar comedy, Horrible Bosses 2.

Just when it looked like things were going so well for the upcoming Horrible Bosses 2 - the film bringing back its three main stars and getting a script from the writers of the original - the project has lost its director. Filmmaker Seth Gordon was originally planning to come back and make the comedy sequel, but has now been forced out due to scheduling conflicts. New Line Cinema. however, only sees this situation as a speed bump and is still planning to have cameras rolling this fall.

Things appear to be moving right along for the anticipated Horrible Bosses sequel, with the core trio of Jason Bateman, Charlie Day and Jason Sudeikis reportedly locked in for the follow-up to the 2011 comedy. Likely to join them is Jamie Foxx, who played a sort of mentor to the lead characters in the first film.

Just last week New Line announced plans to to their R-rated caper Horrible Bosses. The comedy that centered on a "crisscross" murder scenario a la Strangers on a Train drew positive reviews for its trio of TV stars Charlie Day, Jason Bateman and Jason Sudeikis, and earned more than $209 million worldwide.

I really hope that that they don't pull a Hangover Part II and try and get away with making the same film twice. After what transpired in the first movie, it's hard to imagine that the top-billed trio would ever try killing their bosses again, meaning that it would be betraying the characters right from the start. I would also really like to see them bring back Bob Newhart as Jason Bateman's sadistic new boss, but I would understand if that's not doable.
