Billie Joe Armstrong Is Getting Better, Green Day Will Tour In March
Green Day frontman Billie Joe Armstrong wasn’t in the best place when he decided to seek treatment for substance abuse back in September, but with more than three months of recovery in him and a whole new mindset, he’s ready to take the show on the road once again. He and his fellow bandmates announced yesterday that they’ll begin criss-crossing the country once again starting in late March.
Speaking on his Instagram account, Armstrong thanked fans for all the support they’ve given him over the past few months and announced the impending tour in a short multi-paragraph statement. You can take a look at an excerpt of his well-wishes to his supporters below…
”So now, without further ado, the show must go on.. We cant wait to get on the road and live out loud! Our passion has only grown stronger.”
For some musicians, the best road to recovery is getting back to work, while for others, getting back to work is the worst thing they could possibly do for their recovery. Luckily, the other members of Green Day seem to have their acts together, and one would imagine they’d make alterations to the way they tour in order to help keep Billie Joe clean and sober.
Unfortunately, for some fans, today’s happy announcement wasn’t exactly perfect. The tour will continue in late March, but that means they’ll still miss all of the dates that were still up in the air in January and February. In the grand scheme of things, however, if Billie Joe really has beaten his substance abuse problems, these blips in the radar were all worth it.
