Arcade Fire Reportedly Dropping New Album In September
Earlier this month, The Arcade Fire’s Win Butler came out of the woodwork to be a special guest onstage during the Rolling Stones’ 50 and Counting Tour. Now it seems the band is getting ready for some big action as well, with various news outlets reporting The Arcade Fire will put out a brand new album this September.
The group has been good about releasing new material every few years. The band’s debut album, Funeral, hit the scene in 2004 and was followed by Neon Bible in 2007 and The Suburbs in 2010. We’ve known for a while that the band was working on new material in the studio, recording with former LCD Soundsystem frontman James Murphy at his New York studio for DFA Records. In fact, the musican and producer actually spoke with Rolling Stone about the upcoming musical endeavor last month, stating the band members know their way around the studio.
"There's a lot of them, and they're mostly self-produced – like, they don't need a producer in a certain way. I think it's going to be a really great record, actually. I'm eager to see it come out."
On Friday Revolt TV confirmed that the band has a firm September 9 release date set for the new endeavor. Unfortunately, the outlet was unable to discern any further details about The Arcade Fire’s upcoming fourth studio album. However, a September release date does fit the pattern of when drummer Jeremy Gara told radio news station CKCU to expect new music in 2013.
Over the years, The Arcade Fire has done some pretty incredible stuff in the realms of art and music, including an epic and fun Google Chrome project for the hit song “We Used To Wait” and a contribution to Spike Jonze’s movie, Where The Wild Things Are (the director would later shoot a short film for the band). Most recently, the group contributed an original track and the original score for The Hunger Games, the first of a trilogy of films.
All of that has been enough to tide over fans between original albums; however, it’ll be nice to hear some new grooves from the popular group. Keep your eyes peeled over the coming weeks for an album title announcement, as well as for snippets of new music, as album #4 should be on its way very soon.
