One Tree Hill started out as a teen drama series about a bunch of kids in high school in the town of Tree Hill. In the fourth season they all graduated and rather than forcing fans to drag through the dreaded “college years” (which given the history of teen dramas that evolve into college-dramas, probably wouldn’t have been all that great), the writers jumped the characters ahead four years and at the start of the fifth season they were all re-introduced in their post-college-aged lives.

The CW hasn’t given up much as to what we can expect from the new season. The CW's website still has last season’s description up (big shocker – the CW slacks off on promoting what many consider to be a great series) but BuddyTV managed to scrape together a few clues from the new season based on a clip (posted below). (If you don’t want to know anything about the new season, read no further!). It looks like Millicent is working on a resignation letter and Brooke’s mother is trying to steal her company. And a girl is trying to steal a shirt from Brooke’s shop.

I don’t watch One Tree Hill and doubt I will anytime soon but I found the jump-forward that they did last season very intriguing. The writers (and the network) took a risk in ditching the college years and moving further ahead with the story a bit but since the series has been renewed for a sixth season, it seems like it paid off. Though I do wonder if fans think the series might have worked better had they tried to do the college years or if they were just so happy to see the show picked up that it didn’t matter to them either way. If you’re a OTH fan and you have an opinion on that or if you just want to show support for the series, post a message in our comments section below!

  1. Kat Says:

I've been a Tree Hill fan from the start and have stuck with it through the pretty mediocre 2nd season but it paid off for the superb 3rd...I will admit i wasn't expecting much from the fast forward in season 5. But since I'm a big P.Sawyer fan and Naley shipper I gave it a go...and it really paid off!
The 5th season was fresh, slick and hip, it felt like a whole new show but still had its heart and still had the same characters that makes One Tree Hill so good. I hope i can say the same for the 6th season. We'll have to wait and see.
