Community Reportedly Set For A Panel For SDCC 2012, Bad News For Castle

The news that Community is set to move forward without its creator on board as show runner is still bittersweet. It's really hard to picture the series without Dan Harmon behind it. But the show will go on, and not only will it return to NBC, but it's also reportedly set to be featured in a panel at Comic Con this year.

TV Line reports that Community will be back at Comic Con in San Diego next month. As the site notes, there'd been speculation that the NBC comedy series might not participate in SDCC this year due to the off-camera drama going on surrounding Dan Harmon's recent departure from the series. As it happens, that's not the case. Not only will Community have its own panel again this year, but all seven of the series' lead cast members will be in attendance. An official announcement on the news is expected to arrive sometime soon.

There's some bad news for another beloved series with regards to its status at Comic Con. Castle will not be returning to SDCC this year. TV Line says there isn't an official explanation for the ABC drama's anticipated absence from this year's Comic Con, but from a recent Tweet by Caste writer Terri Edda Miller, it sounds like it was ABC's decision, possibly due to having other shows to promote this year. (Hopefully one of them is Shawn Ryan's upcoming Last Resort. We'll have to wait to see if there's news on that.)

On the bright side, while Castle won't be at SDCC this year, Nathan Fillion is reportedly going to be there somewhere, sometime. Details on that are still being worked out. Something Firefly related, perhaps? Or maybe as Captain Hammer? We'll keep you posted if we learn any details on Fillion's actual plans for SDCC this year.
