The Daily Show To Cover The 2012 Democratic National Convention
Those of you who like your political updates with humor and a side of satire will be covered come this September when the Democratic National Convention takes place as the Imaginon: The Joe & Joan Martin Center in Charlotte, NC. Comedy Central announced today that The Daily Show will be covering the event.
The Daily Show with Jon Stewart will head south to cover its fourth Democratic National Convention, with an aim to air the coverage each night, beginning Tuesday, September 4 through Friday, September 7. While itís the fourth Democratic National Convention covered by the series, itís the ninth time The Daily Show has gone on the road, when factoring Republican National Conventions and election coverage.
"We are incredibly excited to spend a week in the beautiful city of Charlotte," said Rory Albanese, Executive Producer, 'The Daily Show with Jon Stewart.' "And to the good people of North Carolina, for their southern hospitality in hosting 125 smart-aleck New Yorkers, we offer in advance our thanks, but most of all, our apologies. Honestly, we didnít mean to break that, and we promise weíll pay for it."
The episodes that will air each night during the DNC will include news, analysis and guest interviews. We can also expect reports from the convention floor at the Time Warner Cable Arena. Among the mentioned Daily Show news team expected to participate are Samantha Bee, Wyatt Cenac, Jason Jones, Al Madrigal, Aasif Mandvl, John Oliver and Jessica Williams.
Much in the way The Daily Show mixes humor with actual news and interesting commentary, we should probably expect a similar blend with their coverage of the DNC. This may bring an additional layer of entertainment to the convention, just as it has their news coverage and the previous events the Comedy Central series has covered.
