Just yesterday, ABC revealed the dates of their season finales, which begin trickling in starting next week. Most of the network's currently airing programs wrap up in May, which is also when ABC will begin rolling out its summer slate, starting with the return of Wipeout. The network announced their summer schedule today. The list includes the return of The Bachelorette, Rookie Blue and Extreme Makeover: Weight Loss Edition, as well as the series debuts of Mistresses, Motive and What Would You Do?.
Mistresses is based on a British series and follows a foursome of female friends who lean on one another for support as each of them deals with their own set of issues and romantic drama. Motive, meanwhile, is a detective drama that offers the added twist of revealing the victim and killer at the start of each episode, and then takes us through the story, the crime and the connection between the victim and the criminal. It sounds like the focus of this series will be on the "why" as opposed to the "who" in the whodunnit.
Speaking of "Whodunnit," ABC has an unscripted series titled Whodunnit set to premiere later in June, which puts 13 contestants' investigative skills to the test as they use various crime scene investigation techniques to search for clues and figure out which of them is the killer. They'll also live together, and it sounds like there's some strategy to this elimination competition, which offers a $250k prize to the winner.
Also among the new series is the hidden camera show What Would You Do?, which films people reacting to various scenarios to see who's compelled to act and who minds their own business.
Here's the released Summer 2013 premiere schedule for ABC:
