Complete Set Of FX's 30 Days Coming In Almost 50 Days

The first two seasons of Morgan Spurlock's FX documentary series 30 Days have been available on DVD for several years now, but season three, which aired back in 2008, has been AWOL until now. Thankfully, fans will soon be able to complete their set, because Virgil Films is releasing the show in a complete-series DVD set May 18th.

Spurlock, of course, is the documentary filmmaker who first rose to fame after attempting to kill himself via fast food in Super Size Me. He's done a few things since then, including 2008's controversial Where in the World Is Osama Bin Laden?, but for my money, 30 Days is still the best thing he's been involved with. The concept is simple and compelling: for 30 days, someone is placed into a wholly unfamiliar situation. The show opened with Spurlock and his fiancé attempting to make ends meet for a month on minimum wage -- only an impressive stunt if you're not one of the people who have to do so on a regular basis -- but soon moved on to truly unforgettable episodes tackling hot-button issues such as gay rights, abortion, and immigration. There are some weak episodes, sure, but at its best 30 Days is absolutely addictive viewing, and it's a shame a fourth season hasn't materialized, since that concept still has tons of life left in it.

Listing for a very reasonable $29.99, the set will include audio commentary on several episodes: “Minimum Wage,” “Anti-Aging,” “Muslims and America,” “Straight Man in a Gay World,” “Immigration,” “Jail,” “Working on a Coal Mine,” and “Life on an Indian Reservation.” You'll also get a "Diary Cam" for the season one episodes.
