Oliver And Company Doesn't Worry Over Anniversary Release

There are those Disney classics that everyone can agree on: Snow White, Pinocchio, and Cinderella for instance. Then there are the more contemporary classics: Aladdin, Beauty and the Beast, and The Little Mermaid are great examples for what essentially served as a new Disney renaissance. In between, however, some of Disney’s hits were few and far between, but that doesn’t mean they weren’t just as good. Some of them are just underappreciated.

One of my favorites from that in-between-era is Oliver & Company, which even my Disney obsessed wife had to admit only having a passing knowledge of. That will soon be remedied, however, as Disney brings a 20th Anniversary Edition to DVD on February 3rd.

The animated feature is an adaptation of Charles Dickens’ classic Oliver Twist, featuring the voice of Joey Lawrence as a stray cat who falls in with a pack of dogs that teach him to be more street-smart. Who better to voice New York pups than Billy Joel, Robert Loggia, and Bette Midler, among others?

The DVD includes quite a bit of bonus materials, including two bonus Pluto cartoons, a history of Disney’s animated animals, and more. Check out the disc’s contents below and look for Oliver & Company back in stores on February 3rd.
