Remember Sarah Marshall With An Unrated DVD Release
If you missed Forgetting Sarah Marshall in theaters (and gauging from how the movie performed in my Fantasy League a lot of you did), you really missed out on a treat. The comedy continues a great tradition of a mix of raunch and heartfelt emotion from Judd Apatow, who produces Jason Segal’s movie about a guy who gets dumped and has trouble letting go.
The movie shows a bit more of Segal then I would have desired seeing, but apparently that wasn’t enough, because Forgetting Sarah Marshall’s DVD release will include an unrated version of the movie. Great, more penis.
The movie is being released on September 30th in a special three-disc Collector’s Edition that includes rated and unrated cuts of the movie, a digital download copy, and a ton of extra features, focusing on everything from the nudity of the movie to the puppetry used in different parts of the story. If you’ve seen the movie, you’ll be particularly excited about that last one, with alternate versions and table reads of “Dracula’s Lament.”
Universal has also announced a seven disc “Unrated Comedy Collection” that will come out at the same time, grouping the three-disc Forgetting Sarah Marshall with Knocked Up and The 40-Year-Old Virgin. Both the comedy collection and the unrated Collector’s Edition of Sarah Marshall will also be available on Blu-ray.
Based on the multiple versions of artwork Universal has, I’m assuming single disc editions of Forgetting Sarah Marshall will be available too, although the press release doesn’t mention anything about them.
