Mike Pondsmith, creator of the roleplaying game Cyberpunk and co-creator of the upcoming CD Projekt RED RPG, Cyberpunk 2077, gives gamers a lot to think about and drool over as he discusses what makes cyber-punk as a genre so appealing and how it's being translated into a living, breathing, visceral experience for CDPR's high-end, next-generation take on the long running fiction.

I've always loved the themes of cyber-punk, the element of a dark and dangerous society. It was as cool as it was horrifying – an element of terror kind of lurked in the dank shadows of those ideas, coming to fruition in characters like Roy Batty from Blade Runner or the Nomad from Hardware. It's the unknown and the surreal coming together in a cybernetic society that makes it so fascinating and intriguing. It's pretty cool how Pondsmith shares some insight on those aforementioned concepts in the dev diary below. Check it out.

Definitely makes me excited to see how it all turns out. I wonder if CD Projekt's Cyberpunk 2077 will invoke the same kind of mixed feelings of curiosity, adventure and horror that was oh-so present in games like Traffic Department 2192 or movies like Nemesis and Terminator? I guess we'll find out soon enough.

Cyberpunk 2077 is set for release on PC and will arrive at a later date for the PlayStation 4 and Xbox 720. Hooray for PC being the lead platform this time around.
