There have been a couple of problems plaguing Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare since its launch, some of these problems include multiplayer lag, other problems include less nefarious issues such as multiplayer chatting and messaging. While Sledgehammer Games will be addressing those less nefarious issues, one thing they won't be fixing too soon is the disabled Share Play feature on the PS4.

Share Play was recently introduced in update 2.00 for the PS4. It allows players to literally share their play experience with friends, even if said friend doesn't have the game. It's pretty nifty if I must say so myself, and a good example of utilizing cloud technology in a reasonable way.

However, CVG is reporting that the Share Play feature added in the recent PS4 firmware update is simply disabled all throughout Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare with the following message appearing for anyone who tries to use it...
"The host's game screen is not displayed because the current scene is a blocked scene for Share Play. Wait until the blocked scene is finished."

Apparently Share Play can be made available for every game on Sony's system... but developers can choose to opt out of enabling the feature in their game. While it might seem as if Activision did this for some sort of monetary reason, it turns out that the real reason is a bit less dubious.

According to a PR spokesperson, they informed CVG that...
"Share Play is a new feature that was introduced as part of the recent PS4 firmware 2.00 update. Our engineers didn't have access to it before it launched, so we haven't had a chance to evaluate it to see how it will impact the experience across all modes of play.

"Of course we wouldn't include a feature in our game without having the chance to test it. Once we've fully analysed its performance, we'll determine how to support it going forward."

As mentioned at the top of the article: it's an issue they won't be fixing anytime too soon.

What Sledgehammer Games will be addressing soon are a host of other problems as the head of the studio, Michael Condrey, took to Reddit to explain what the team would be addressing soon and adding to their to-do list. In fact, here are the items (in no particular order of priority) that the team will be fixing ASAP:

1) MP chat icon size and placement.
2) Kill confirmed score limit
3) Camo challenge tuning
4) Prestige emblem reset
5) Speed reload timing
6) 2XP messaging
7) Score mismatch when player leaves public lobby. (Doesn't affect Combat Record)
8) COD Vision team color improvements

None of those issues are actually at the top of the wishlist of improvements for players. Do you know what is? Dedicated servers.

In fact, the top couple of comments are all about dedicated servers. Why? Because of the lag issue. What lag issue? This lag issue discussed by IGN (and yes, IGN is discussing a pro-consumer concern)...
“Sledgehammer Games and Activision said before Advanced Warfare's launch that it would feature dedicated servers for all platforms, but it's using peer-to-peer connections, leading to weaker match stability.

“The general response from Activision is, "We're aware of connectivity issues currently being experienced. They are under investigation. Stay tuned for updates."

Unsurprisingly, Advanced Warfare is still using that 'ole peer-to-peer system as if this were 1998. Well, IGN went on and reached out to Activision for clarification on the issue and plans to update the article (or pop out a new one most likely) when they receive a reply from the publisher.

IGN...first acknowledging a public ethics policy and now being pro-consumer? Mind-boggling.
