Stories: The Path Of Destinies is an obviously beautiful game with a lot of potential, and now Spearhead Games has finally announced a release date for the action-RPG. Stories: The Path Of Destinies will be releasing on April 12.
Players take control of Reynardo, an ex-pirate who is fighting to take down the evil Emperor. Stories works like the beloved choose-your-own-adventure books where players can choose a path, see how it works out (or doesn’t) and go back to change things up with a different strategy. It’s going to be a lot of trial and error to get to where you need to go. Check out the official trailer below.
The one thing that draws me immediately to this game is the art style. The colors are so vibrant and appealing, kind of like in Crash Bandicoot. And if you’ve been following my writing, then you know I am obsessed with narrative in video games, so the fact that this game is attempting to cover the choose-your-own-adventure gameplay style in a different kind of game really intrigues me. Both Life Is Strange and Beyond: Two Souls are very in-depth, dramatic RPG’s that rely more on things like atmosphere and character development, but Stories: The Path Of Destinies seems a little more playful and a different kind of in-game action. I always love to see a game doing something a little different when it comes to the narrative inside the game. You see the same thing for so long, it’s refreshing to see a developer build on an idea that succeeded.
Stories: The Path Of Destinies is due out on PS4 and Windows on April 12. If you want to learn more about the game, you can visit the official website.
