During the Microsoft E3 press conference they confirmed the rumors that a new Dead Rising game was on the way. The new title is a sequential entry in the Dead Rising series simply called Dead Rising 4, and they recently confirmed that the title will release for Windows 10 and Xbox One on December 6.
Gamespot caught wind of the release date over on the Xbox store where they originally listed the game with the December 6th, 2016 release date. However, the store page was updated and changed the date after it was discovered. However, the release date was confirmed during the E3 live-stream, where Capcom Vancouver confirmed the release date during an Xbox game session.
They also revealed a lot more about the actual gameplay and setting of Dead Rising 4 during the session, including the fact that the game takes place 15 years after the events of the first Dead Rising and players will be back in the role of Frank West, the journalist extraordinaire.
The Dead Rising series' cheeky humor is making a return, along with the crafting system, which allows for a even wider range of weapons and items to craft and utilize against the zombie menace.
New to this game is the four-player cooperative mode that allows three of your friends or family to join in with you on the action via online multiplayer. This takes the concepts they introduced into Dead Rising 3 for the Xbox One and PC and elevates and evolves that to the next level.
But beyond the technical specs and under-the-hood upgrades, there's a lot more happening with the actual gameplay, such as the ability to utilize the brand new EXO suits in this Dead Rising, which grant players lots of projectile powers, super strength and the ability to pick and wield things that would otherwise be way too heavy for Frank to carry on his own.
Using the EXO in Dead Rising 4 enables gamers to completely decimate large swathes of zombies with things like the mobile flamethrower cannon, or picking up a giant block of concrete and smashing the zombies into smithereens with it.
The EXO suits can also be upgraded but they didn't go into too much detail into what sort of upgrades will be available for the suits, only that they can get more powerful throughout the play experience.
Of course, many of the staple items that helped make Dead Rising popular in the first place will be making a return as well, such as guns, knives, baseball bats, axes, and vehicles. Also, vehicles will be making a return to the game and they will house more ways to customize them and more ways to take down hordes of zombies. Capcom decided to take what was featured in Dead Rising 3 and then move that up to a whole other level when it comes to interaction and bloody visceral combat.
We're likely going to see plenty more about Dead Rising 4 before it launches on December 6th, 2016 later this year for the Xbox One and Windows 10 PCs.
