The holiday season has been good for Pokemon Go players. They've been on the receiving end of a new tracking system for Pokemon, brand new second generation Pokemon to capture, and various holiday themed events. Well, Niantic also has holiday deals to top off all of that goodness.
• Special Box: x10 Great Balls, x2 Egg Incubators, 250 Coins
• Great Box: x20 Great Balls, x2 Incense, x4 Egg Incubators, 550 Coins
• Ultra Box: x20 Ultra Balls, x25 Incense, x6 Egg Incubators, 1500 Coins
In addition to the bundle boxes there will also be Bronze, Silver and Gold holiday boxes made available between December 30th and January 3rd as an addendum to the current box bundle deals for Pokemon Go.
The special holiday boxes will also include Incense, Lure Modules, Lucky Eggs, Poke Balls and Great Balls. Obviously, the second set of holiday discounts aren't quite as top tier as the current discount going on that involves the three boxes mentioned above.
Whether or not you consider those bundles a good deal depends on how many incense, egg incubators, coins and Poke Balls you have. In the Game Informer article they mention that they're already stocked to the gills with various Poke Balls, so there's no point in investing in the bundle. However, for players a little less devoted to Pokemon Go, I imagine the bundle deals look pretty good because if you're new to the game then you might want to hit the ground running with a lot of great items and gear without having to spend the remainder of the holiday season grinding out at your local corner store just get to some extra items.
Others might really want to get their hands on some of those second generation Pokemon that were recently added to Pokemon Go but maybe missed out on the Christmas events to get their hands on them. In this case, being able to use some of the included items in any of the aforementioned packs would likely help out in attaining some of those new Pokemon much easier than trying to tough it out by simply walking around and trying to capture them without any extra items.
The comment section isn't filled with much enthusiasm or excitement for the bundles, though. Most people are saying that the Incense is useless and that while Great and Ultra Balls are useful for people not located in heavily populated urban or suburban areas, it isn't enough to justify the price of entry.
Niantic, however, did address the spawn rate of some Pokemon in Pokemon Go for those living in rural areas. So in a way, there is slightly more incentive to get the bundle if you do decide to go out and you do live in a rural area, just because now you'll be rewarded with more Pokemon to capture.
Remember, both holiday deals won't last for long, so you'll only have a few days from now until December 30th and from December 30th to January 3rd to cash-in on the Pokemon Go discounts.
