Thank goodness it's Friday. It's not just that the weekend is here, it's that the weekend and a PlayStation flash sale on PSN is here. They have some killer deals for gamers to pick up from the digital storefront, offering discounts on some big name games and fan-favorites alike.
Over on the official PlayStation Store they have a categorical breakdown for each of the PlayStation systems and platforms, and flash deals taking place across all of them. This includes the PS4, PS3, PS Vita and digital movies. There are actually some interesting films in the stash, such as Nerve, 13 Assassins and Tucker & Dale Vs Evil. The incomparable Bronson is also in the list. Many of these titles are available for only $1.99 or $2.99.
The real highlight happens to be the games that are discounted. They have a total of 14 pages of software that's part of the flash sale, which includes 165 titles. This ranges from games like Terraria and Injustice: Gods Among Us Ultimate Edition being discounted from $19.99 down to $4.99, along with Payday 2: Crimewave Edition and The Order: 1886 also being slashed in price from $19.99 to $4.99.
Technically those prices aren't far off from what you might find in a Steam sale. In fact, there are quite a few top-tier PS4 titles discounted that you might not have expected to be discounted so drastically, such as the 85% off sale of Tomb Raider: The Definitive Edition for $4.49. You can also grab games like Battlefield 4 for 75% off for only $4.99, along with Saints Row IV: Re-Elected.
Legendary classics like Shadow of the Colossus are also up for grabs. The remastered PS3 edition of the game is discounted by 60% off for only $3.99. Other PS3 titles such as Borderlands 2 are also available for half off, cut down from $9.99 to $4.99.
Various seasons of Telltale's The Walking Dead are also available for up to 80% off on the PlayStation 4. If you never played the games before but you've been hearing a lot about them and wanted to try your hand at the point-and-click titles, you can do so thanks to the weekend flash sale discount.
But what about the PlayStation Vita? I'm sure some of you still have the handheld and are wondering what Sony offered up for gamers who like the play on the go. Well, if you check the Vita section you'll see that there's a wide variety of titles up for grabs that go from half off up to 80% off. The game variation runs the gamut of genres, ranging from Atlus' Shin Megami Tensei: Persona 3 Portable to Castlevania: Symphony of the Night, and from Dust Force to Tetris. There's literally something in there for everyone.
Unfortunately, there are only 20 games available for the PlayStation Vita. And while the variety may be highly diverse, I'm sure some people may have been expecting more on offer for what some feel is a neglected platform by Sony.
You'll only have the weekend to get in on some of these deals, so it's best you act fast and scoop up any game you may have missed.
