Set to launch later this month, Assassin's Creed: Origins will live up to its namesake, revealing the roots of the series' titular organization. In the game's latest trailer, we are shown the "Birth of the Brotherhood."

The Assassin's Creed series has visited many regions and eras over the years, leaping from point to point in history to show how this shadowy organization has had a hand in shaping civilization by both inspiring the downtrodden and holding the powerful accountable. Their brand of "influence" usually results in a corrupt individual meeting an untimely end, which has made for more than half a dozen games of running, jumping, diving and stabbing our way through the history books.

In Assassin's Creed: Origins, we're going all the way back to the inception of the organization, which is the focus of the game's latest trailer. You'll take on the role of Bayek, a Maedjay responsible for the protection of Egypt. Bayek explains that his home is in great turmoil and, to perform his duties, he must "become an instrument of justice and freedom." We all see where this is going, yes?

As you might have guessed, things get complicated as Bayek uncovers more about the forces attacking his lands, as well as the people who govern his own home. In the trailer he states that there is a "new creed" that will govern him and his fellow Magi, abandoning their old title in order to become "assassins." Did you get goosebumps watching it?

Assassin's Creed: Origins is set to launch Oct. 27, helping kick the holiday gaming season into high gear. I mean, it arrives day and date with the likes of Super Mario Odyssey and Wolfenstein II: The New Colossus, so get ready to game yourself into a comma.

We're not surprised to see so much buzz surrounding this latest Assassin's Creed, but we're especially excited because of the extra time that has gone into development. Ubisoft gave the team some extra breathing room, and Origins looks especially impressive as a result. We know there's going to be a huge game world to explore, peppered with missions and plenty of places to explore. And then there's the educational twist that was recently announced, allowing players to turn off the story and combat in exchange for free exploration complemented by "guided tours" of the regions and history of Egypt. It all sounds pretty impressive.

So what do you think, readers? Did this latest trailer for Assassin's Creed: Origins get you more excited to explore the beginnings of this storied organization? Share your thoughts in the comments below.
