Subscribe To Star Wars Battlefront 2 Adds New Solo: A Star Wars Story Content Updates
With a fresh Star Wars movie out in theaters, you better believe DICE is capitalizing with some new, and free, content in Battlefront II. The second half of the Solo content pack will soon be available across all platforms, introducing a new ship, new multiplayer maps, character skins and more.
DICE recently unveiled the remaining Solo content being introduced into Star Wars: Battlefront II, and fans of the new movie have a lot to be excited about here. Set to arrive on June 12, this gratis DLC will add a little flavor from Solo into the game, allowing players to take on the role of their favorite space scoundrels, aged back about 40-odd years.
While the first half of the Solo content hit Battlefront II before the film's launch, DICE held back on the remainder of the DLC a few weeks to allow folks to see the movie first. That first wave included some Solo-themed gear, a new Hero game mode and the Jaba's Palace map, all pulled from the original trilogy. This new content, though, is straight out of the latest Star Wars Film.
First up, the Kessel map is being introduced into the multiplayer rotation, giving players a chance to battle it out in the notorious coaxium mines. The map is inspired heavily by the new film and will be available in modes including Blast, Hero Showdown, Heroes vs. Villains and Extraction.
Oh, that's right! The Extraction mode is being re-introduced into the game. Kind of a one-sided capture the flag mode, one team will try to blast their way into enemy territory in order to grab a payload and escape before being mowed down. Fans really dug this mode in the first Battlefront, so we imagine they'll be excited to see it reintroduced to the lineup.
If you're after a new ship to add to your fleet, then you'll be happy to learn that Lando's Millennium Falcon is included in the Solo DLC pack. If you haven't seen the film yet, there's good reason why this version of the Falcon looks a bit different from the one Solo traditionally flies, but we'll avoid spoilers for now. At this point, we aren't sure if we're just talking about a skin swap here, or maybe the new Falcon will have some different abilities when engaging in dogfights. We'll just have to wait and see.
Finally, several characters will receive new skins in this update, including Han Solo, Lando Calrissian and Chewbacca. You'll be able to make all three look like their younger Solo selves, and it sounds like some new voice work has even been included for these skins. Sadly, there don't appear to be any new characters from the film making an appearance, so your dreams of storming the battlefield as L3-37 will just have to wait.
