As promised, Gearbox Software released a new trailer for Aliens: Colonial Marines today. Perhaps it's stylish enough to make you forget the fact that the game's just been pushed back several months.

The trailer is a cinematic rather than gameplay footage. It follows drops of acidic alien blood as they melt through the floors of an abandoned building. Eventually we find ourselves in the aliens' hive, where a team of Marines are battling the hideous creatures. The trailer closes with a shot of an Alien Queen - I think.

Yesterday Marines publisher Sega confirmed that the game would not arrive this spring as planned. They're now targeting an autumn release.

"We don't want to sacrifice the creative process just for the sake of following a blue print. We prefer to have the creative discovery shape that blue print because our goal is to make a great game, and we are prioritising this goal over the previously targeted date," said Sega.

Marines is a co-op shooter set after the events of the film Aliens. Players take on the role of Marines sent to investigate the U.S.S. Sulaco as well as LV-426, the planet it's orbiting. Both are infested with xenomorphs and it falls to players to wipe them all out. Players will be armed with many of the items and weapons from the films, including pulse rifles and motion sensors.
