The PS Vita exclusive Assassin's Creed 3 Liberation was detailed in a new developer diary today. It doesn't necessarily give any fresh information but provides a good summary for anyone who hasn't been following this interesting new handheld game.

Liberation takes place in and around the city of New Orleans. The campaigns runs from roughly 1765 to 1780, which means it overlaps with the time frame of Assassin's Creed 3. The stories are separate but Ubisoft says that Liberation protagonist Aveline will encounter her AC3 counterpart Connor at least once.

Aveline is the first female hero in the series. Ubisoft mentions that there were many influential women in this period so they felt a female Assassin would be a natural fit for the game. They've tried to give her talents that set her apart from other Assassins, such as skill with a blowgun and whip.

Liberation will be available starting on October 30th, the same day that AC3 will debut.
