Do you like getting extra advantages in multiplayer modes because you paid more for the game than somebody else? Do you like getting a head start in levels and XP, as well as access to exclusive weapons that will make you stronger, faster and more deadly than the competition? Well, pre-order Crysis 3 and you'll be one bad mofo when it comes to the game's Hunter Mode.

The new trailer details how paying early grants you access to the Predator Bow, a unique weapon skin for the bow, and the all-seeing Recon Arrow on day zero, which enables you to “tag” your opponents and keep track of them while you hunt them. You'll also automatically start at level 5, ahead of the competition. Even more than that, you'll get a free cloak perk to take advantage of your surroundings and keep one step ahead of the prey. Check it out in the video below.

You know, I don't mind pre-order bonuses. They were always like, “Whatever”. However, the thing that really turns my knobs with this is the obvious cash grab attached to selling competitive advantages for multiplayer. It's one thing to separate your audience with maps, but extra weapons, gear, perks, XP and level bonuses just seems...well, it's like paying to win right out of the box.

I thought that kind of stuff was relegated to free-to-play games, and while I'm not fond of pay-to-win perks in F2P titles, I at least understand the motivation behind such a tactic given that the base game is free.

However, in this scenario, Crysis 3 has a $60 price tag, but now it's turned into this thing where you can buy competitive multiplayer advantages if you pre-order early. Yeah, that definitely turns my knobs the wrong way.

On the plus side, you also get a free game when you do pre-order Crysis 3, so it's not only paying to win but you also get some free stuff, too. You can learn more by visiting the Official Website.
