The DS and Wii enjoyed strong sales during the Thanksgiving weekend. Never one to miss an opportunity to tout sales figures, Nintendo sent out a press release detailing the weekend's results.

From November 21st to November 27th, Nintendo sold 900,000 DS units and 600,000 Wii consoles. That comes out to 9,000 hardware systems per hour. I'm a fan of "if you stacked them up on top of each other, they'd be as tall as the" type statistics but no such factoids were revealed.

Limited edition bundles probably helped Nintendo's bottom line. A red Wii and red DSi XL were released earlier this fall to commemorate the 25th anniversary of Super Mario Bros.. Orange and green DSi models made their debut this weekend.
