Destiny's first expansion "The Dark Below" will be launching in less than a month. Bungie says that big changes are coming to the game before then, though.
"We’re inbound with several bundles of joy in our hold," Bungie community manager David Dague said in the latest Weekly Update. "They’ll land in the weeks to come. Some of them will give everyone new things to do and earn. Some of them will prepare the world you’ve conquered for some new arrivals, and push the boundaries. Your level of engagement will be up to you. Each of us finds our own level in Destiny."
Players can expect the following updates to come to Destiny in the near future:
Some of the other imminent changes have been announced by Bungie in the past. For example, they said back in September that voice chat would be added for matchmaking activities in Destiny such as Crucible matches and Strikes. They held off on that feature at launch because they were worried about griefing. They want to give players the ability to coordinate with each other better, though, so expect the expanded voice chat to arrive soon.
New free content is also coming to Destiny. Bungie said last week that all players will get new bounties in the near future, along with five extra slots for them. Stronger Exotic items with "more interesting" upgrades and additional Legendaries are also in the works.
The most significant alterations of the game will obviously be saved for The Dark Below, though. This expansion pits players against the Hive in three new story missions. They'll continue the fight in cooperative Strike The Will of Crota along with raid Crota's End. Three maps will also be added to the Crucible modes.
As part of their Weekly Update, Bungie released a few pieces of concept art from The Dark Below. It shows off some of the new locations that players will explore, including the Chamber of Night deep below the Moon's surface and the Seraphim Vault within the Cosmodrome.
