With the recent release of Deus Ex: Human Revolution, a few modders got together to parody the new game with a mod for the original Deus Ex called Deus Ex: Unreal Revolution. I’m not going to give it all away, but they add “cinematic” takedowns, the color scheme and some of the features of the new game to the original Deus Ex.

Check out the video below.

Deus Ex Unreal Revolution - Mod DB

As you can see, the whole thing parodies our current generation’s obsession with DLC. More appropriately, the publisher’s obsession with DLC. I loved how he just gave up on the mission at the end because he didn’t have the GameStop augments…I nearly tipped over laughing at that part. I imagine it won’t be long before the industry gets to a point where you can’t complete the game, a specific mission or other segments without DLC (technically you could say this is the case with some games, such as Mass Effect 2 requiring the Shadow Broker DLC to complete Liari’s side-quest).

I don’t really think the newest game in the highly popular series, Human Revolution, takes as much advantage of consumers with DLC as other games like Battlefield 3, Modern Warfare 3 or a few other games out there that grant the buyer with “exclusive” weapons and content, but the gist of the video above really does reverberate a growing trend in today’s industry.

Anyway, you can learn more about the newest Deus Ex by visiting the Official Website or visit Moddb to learn more about the Unreal Revolution mod [via Blues].
