Today Capcom revealed Dragon's Dogma to the public. It's an open-world, medieval action game coming to the PS3 and Xbox 360. Capcom hopes it's the start of a new "hit franchise."

In Dogma, you lead a party of three on a quest to slay a mysterious dragon. Your teammates are A.I.-controlled and their abilities based on your actions throughout the game. The combat is said to have "accessible depth"; for example, your weapon weight or the material your armor is made of will affect how you fight. Capcom adds that the game won't require micromanagement, though.

Dogma is being developed in-house at Capcom. Specifically, it's being created by some of the folks responsible for Resident Evil 4 and Devil May Cry 4. The game will use Capcom's proprietary MT Framework engine.

The game is due in 2012. The first trailer is below.
