Del Rey Books announced today that they will be publishing two novels based on the God of War series. If you'd rather rather see decapitations than read about them, you can pick up the comic books instead.

Sony and DC/Wildstorm will collaborate on a six-issue mini-series of comic books that explore both Kratos' youth and the time period between the first two God of War games. The first issue will be released in October and the last will arrive around the time the game hits stores in March. Blade creator Marv Wolfman will pen the series.

The novels, meanwhile, appear to be straight adaptations of the games. The first novel, entitled simply God of War, will hit stores in March. Matthew Stover, who wrote the novelization of Star Wars: Revenge of the Sith, is the author for at least the first one.
