Blizzard is following through on their promise to release Hearthstone's first expansion pack this month. Curse of Naxxramas will be available next week on all platforms.
Naxxramas marks the debut of Adventure Mode, a single-player-only experience. Players will venture into the undead citadel of Naxxramas and face fifteen A.I. bosses with different abilities. The expansion won't be available all at once, though. Instead, Blizzard is rolling it out in five installments.
"Curse of Naxxramas goes live in the Americas region for Windows, Mac, and iPad on Tuesday, July 22, starting with the Arachnid Quarter, the first of five creepy wings that will be released weekly after the gates are opened," Blizzard said on the official Hearthstone website. The Arachnid Quarter will be free to play during the Curse of Naxxramas launch event, which will last roughly a month. Those brave enough to step foot into the Arachnid Quarter during the launch event will unlock it permanently for free."
European gamers will be getting Naxxramas next week as well. They'll have to wait a day more than American Hearthstone players, though.
The Arachnid Quarter will be followed in subsequent weeks by the Plague Quarter, Military Quarter, Construct Quarter, and Frostwyrm Lair. Each contains a different set of bosses for players to test their skills against. Assuming that the wings are all spaced one week apart, here are the release dates for the other wings:
Curse of Naxxramas will be followed by other single-player expansions. No details have been released about these other DLC packs. However, Blizzard said that the groundwork that they laid for Adventure Mode with Naxxramas will result in a quicker turnaround with the later expansions.
