The first images from the sixth Hitman game hit the Internet today. The concept art, first shown at the Montreal International Game Summit, suggest that Agent 47 might not be the star of this game.
The first piece of art shows a gloved hand wielding a silenced pistol. That could very well be Agent 47. However, the second piece of art depicts a man with a moustache and glasses drop-kicking someone and shooting them in the face. It's the sort of acrobatics that would impress Max Payne. Who the hell's that guy?
Hitman 6 could turn out to be quite different than previous games in the series. It's the first one not being developed solely by IO Interactive. Instead, the lead studio on the project is Square Enix Montreal.
That's not to say IO Interactive is leaving the Hitman series behind. Instead, IO and SE Montreal will be tag-teaming the series, each creating their own games in the series. In an interview last week, Absolution director Tore Blystad compared it to the Infinity Ward/Treyarch situation for Call of Duty.
"They will feed off each other, as well as some things that stand out. I think with these big franchises, it takes a long time to develop just one game. If you can, work a little bit in parallel at least, and help each other out," Blystad said.
Square Enix Montreal certainly isn't wasting any time. After all, Absolution was released just last week. If you still haven't tried it out, read our review.
