1C Company and 505 Games announced today that a demo of the World War II flight simulator, IL-2 Sturmovik: Birds of Prey is now available for PS3 owners. The demo is already available for Xbox 360 owners, so there is no need to feel special now that it’s on the PS3.

According to the press release…
Based around large-scale aerial combat over the ground-based military operations of World War II, variety is at the heart of the action in IL-2 Sturmovik: Birds of Prey. Players participate in the most famous confrontations of the era piloting fighters, battle planes or heavy bombers across a range of missions. There are six theatres of war in which to engage - The Battle of Britain, Stalingrad, Berlin, Sicily, the Battle of the Bulge and Korsun - representing the main airborne battles of World War II in Europe.

More than 600,000 Xbox Live players have already taken part in the two-level demo and now time for PlayStation 3 owners to jump into the fray. The demo features two large scale conflicts that will require quick wit and fancy flying skills.

The demo should hold gamers over until the full game launches on September 8th for the Xbox 360, PC, PS3, DS and PSP.
