Throughout this generation of gaming we’ve been hearing, or rather reading, a lot about delays. The common factor for all these delays? “Polish”. Yes, even games that don’t have a $100 million dollar budget still get delayed so the developers can tack on some extra shine, and the same goes for the HD 2D fighter, King of Fighters XIII.

Originally the game was set to release in October, which officially begins this Saturday. However, anyone who pays attention to release dates knows that October is chock full of heavy hitters, one of which includes the incessant media whore, Battlefield 3. Hence, KOF’s new release date is now November 22nd, which is a few weeks after Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 launches, thus, leaving a lot less competition throughout the remainder of the month, especially on the 22nd.

Of course, though, there’s an actual PR message attached to the news and it further reiterates the message of “polish” and “shine” and all those lovely things in between, with Tim Pivnicny, Vice President of Sales and Marketing at Atlus, commenting in the press release, saying…
"While fans will initially be disappointed by the news that THE KING OF FIGHTERS XIIIis slightly delayed, the additional time will ensure that the game delivers on its promise of becoming the finest entry in the series' 15+ year history," …"KOF fans have tremendous expectations for this title, as do we. Our commitment is to nothing less than the very best THE KING OF FIGHTERS game ever, and all of our efforts and resources are dedicated to assisting developer SNK PLAYMORE to that end."

The game will supposedly have a much more robust online component with fixed latency issues to give gamers the most competitive one-on-one fights available, as well as improved controls, animations and new super combos to master.

You can look for King of Fighters XIII to land on store shelves beginning November 22nd for the Xbox 360 and PS3. Need more info? Feel free to visit the Official Website.
