PQube has big plans for the turn-based strategy genre for PC and home consoles. Following on 2K Games' highly successful XCOM, PQube is hoping to cash in while the crowd is still hot on turn-based strategy games with their upcoming Legends of War. The game puts players in the role of General Patton and a handful of troops.

The official release date for the game has been set for March 8th in Europe. I suspect North Americans may be able to get their hands on the game via digital distribution around the same time. If you need a quick look at how the game operates, check out the brief walkthrough trailer below.

I'm kind of interested in this game. I know some hardcore PC strategy fans are never fond of strategy titles designed around a controller, but I think it works well when it's designed well. The real question is how much micromanagement will be at the player's disposal and how much control will players have arming up and customizing their squad? That was one of the biggest drawbacks to Firaxis' XCOM given that accessibility came first and foremost and some of the more detailed functions that made the original X-Com so beloved was left on the cutting room floor for the reboot.

Nevertheless, History Channel's Legends of War is set for release this spring for the Xbox 360, PS3 and the PC. You can learn more about the game by paying a visit to the Official Website.
