Max Payne 3 Launch Trailer Sets The Stage

With less than a week until the debut of Max Payne 3, Rockstar has unveiled the game's official launch trailer. The video sets up the storyline for Max's long-awaited return to gaming.

At the outset of MP3, Max is a mess. He still hasn't gotten over the death of his family and he's become addicted to pain killers. In an attempt to get his life back on track, he takes a private security job in Sao Paulo, Brazil. However, he soon discovers his new job isn't as easy as he thought it would be.

Though this is the first game in the series developed by Rockstar, they've made attempts to keep MP3 consistent with its predecessors. James McCaffrey, the voice actor who played Max in the first two games, will reprise his role in this latest title. Furthermore, Max still has his "Bullet Time" ability that allows him to slow time and take out groups of enemies before they can even react.

There have been some updates to bring MP3 in modern times, though. It introduces multiplayer to the series. As I mentioned in my earlier preview there are some light stealth elements in the gameplay as well. The combination of the tried and true Payne formula with more modern elements makes it a game worth our curiosity.

Max Payne 3 will arrive on the Xbox 360 and PS3 on May 15th in North America. The European launch is expected on the 18th. The PC version will be available two weeks later.
