While the Wii U is getting all of the Game Boy Advance love these days, at least the 3DS crowd now has some new Mega Man games to lord over those who prefer home consoles. Last week, Mega May kicked off with the release of the Game Boy Color title, Mega Man Xtreme. And while the Wii U is scheduled to get its own crop of games featuring the Blue Bomber sometime time this month, it’s all about the 3DS this week with the launch of Mega Man II and III.
Everything you remember about classic Mega Man action remains intact for these straight ports of the NES titles, including the fantastic soundtrack, memorable boss fights and tough-as-nails difficulty. As always, Mega Man must first overthrow a collection of Robot Masters waiting at the end of their own themed worlds before making his way to the evil Dr. Wily. Each victory will bring you one step closer to saving the world as Mega Man absorbs the powers of his fallen enemies, giving him extrordinary new weapons in two of his greatest adventures ever told. Look for Mega Man II and Mega Man III to hit the Virtual Console on 3DS this week.
The classic-themed RPG, Grinsia, also arrives on the Nintendo eShop for the 3DS, taking gamers back to a simpler time in games where cutting edge graphics and systems stacked on systems weren’t needed to tell an engaging story. Made to look like a 16-bit romp, Grinsia is the classic tale of a group of youngsters who are inadvertently pulled into a plot to save the world.
Denpa Men 3 also hits the 3DS this week, offering yet another chapter in the augmented-reality RPG series where players are tasked with catching a bunch of Denpa Men, then sending them on adventures to clear dungeons and earn rewards. It’s joined by a collection of other titles, including Parking Star 3D, Gardening Mama 2: Forest Friends, Jewel Match, Jewel Quest 4 Heritage and Sokomania 2: Cool Job.
Things are quite a bit lighter this week for the Wii U, as Wario Land 4 for the Virtual Console is the only new game slated to launch on Nintendo’s home console.
Finally, there are some sales. Joindots will be discounting several of its games on the 3DS, including 3D Game Collection, Jewel Match 3 and Murder on the Titanic. Trine 2: Director’s Cut will also be marked down by 50 percent on the Wii U this week while Aqua Moto Racing 3D will be 25 percent off on the 3DS. Finally, Atlus will be discounting Etrian Odyssey Untold: The Millenium Girl and Etrian Odyssey IV: Legends of the Titan from May 12 through May 19. You might want to get in on this deals while the getting is good.
