These days, it feels like we’re hearing about just as many old games being released anew as we are new games being released, um, for the very first time. Now Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment is ready to pull back the curtain on its latest offering, a compilation of more than 30 classic arcade games on a single disc, Midway Arcade Origins.

Sadly, while arcades continue to flourish in Japan, the things have all but died out here in North America. That means there’s a whole generation worth of kids who have no idea what it’s like to save their allowance for that next trip to the mall’s food court, have never heard the phrase “quarter up,” and have never had 50 cents disappear in less than half a lap around the track due to missing that next check point by less than a second. Ah, memories.

Well, since you can’t go to the arcade anymore, Warner Bros. is bringing the arcade to you when Midway Arcade Origins hits the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 this holiday season, sporting such titles as Gauntlet, Rampart, Joust, Spy Hunter, Defender and Marble Madness.

The team at Backbone Entertainment is handling the conversions, and pretty much every remake/arcade sequel they’ve brought to the digital market this generation has been spot on. You can expect Midway Arcade Origins to offer Trophies/Achievements for the various games, many of which will also offer up to four-player local co-op. And what modern collection would be complete without leaderboards?

Look for Midway Arcade Origins to hit store shelves later this year for $29.99 for the Xbox 360 and PS3.
