Mortal Kombat X's new gameplay trailer has confirmed yet another classic character for the roster. Reptile will be joining the cast with a new look and new moves.

The first gameplay footage of Reptile shows him battling Kung Lao. His appearance is more savage and grotesque than his 2011 incarnation. His armor is now made of bones and his skin looks much more coarse. He's come along way from his generic green ninja days at the outset of the series.

One aspect of Reptile hasn't changed, though. He still uses venom often in battle to keep his opponent at bay. He can spit it across the map or spray his opponent at close range.

He still has his stealth ability in Mortal Kombat X as well. He turns completely transparent, with his opponent only able to see light distortions when he moves.

In this match, Reptile uses stealth to set up his X-ray attack. He grabs Kung Lao's skull with both hands and snaps his jaw. Then he pokes out both of Kung Lao's eyes. With his thumbs still in his opponent's eye sockets, Reptile slams his face to the ground with a sickening crunch.

The trailer closes with a tease of his fatality. He sprays venom all over Kung Lao's face, melting through his skin. He grabs his opponent's skull and then begins to squeeze. The camera cuts away before he lands the killing blow.

The best part of the trailer happens before they even start the fight, though. Kung Lao and Reptile's pre-match banter is really entertaining:

KUNG LAO: "I have no quarrel with you."
REPTILE: "I will tear your flesh!"
KUNG LAO: "I now have a quarrel with you."

Reptile and Kung Lao are two of many classic characters returning in Mortal Kombat X. Other returning veterans include Kitana, Raiden and Kano. They're joined by a few newcomers like Cassie Cage.

This won't be the only character announcement coming this week. Mortal Kombat creator Ed Boon says that another fighter will be confirmed on Thursday through Netherrealm's Twitch channel:
