Sony unveiled the official line-up for their free games due to drop on the PS3, PS Vita and PS4 for the month of April. The games range from indie titles to some well known games. Some of the titles include Dead Star, A Virus Named Tom and Ubisoft's first-person action game, Zombi.
Gamespot did a quick list of the games and this was also accompanied by a very, very, very short trailer.
The PS Vita will have A Virus Named Tom and Shutshimi. The PS3 will have Savage Moon and I Am Alive, while the PS4 will get Dead Star and Zombi. You can see the very short teaser trailer for the PS Plus games for April with the video below.
The six free games are mostly either older titles or indie games, but it's nice seeing Zombi on the list.
The reaction to the games is interesting. Sony has been dealing with a rising comment insurgency amongst some of their most loyal fans when it comes to the quality of the free PS Plus games. You can read comment sections across the net where gamers are somewhat miffed about the offers.
There are some who defend Sony, stating that people shouldn't be complaining about the quality of games since they're getting them for free. However, some of these PS Plus subscribers aren't really buying into that argument given that they're paying a monthly fee to access multiplayer... it's a little less of an incentive for gamers who only want to play single-player titles but are interested in the supposed free games.
It's interesting because we're starting to see a shift in the way the community reacts and responds to this news. While last month a lot of gamers weren't thrilled about what was offered on the PS4, they did come around to BroForce, which has garnered quite a bit of popularity on PC and now PS4. A lot of gamers are starting to say that Microsoft is offering better free deals through their Games With Gold program.
It's not all doom and gloom for PlayStation, though.
A large portion of the PlayStation Plus community are actually quite excited to get their hands on a free version of Zombi, the Ubisoft first-person survival game that originally released as a Wii U launch title back in 2012. However, the relationship between Nintendo and Ubisoft soured over 2013, and after Ubisoft backed away from the Wii U, they started focusing almost exclusively on the Xbox One, PS4 and PC, with a little bit of scraps tossed to the Xbox 360 and PS3. Once the opportunity arose, Ubisoft ported over the Wii U exclusive, Zombi, to the PS4, PC and Xbox One. And now PS4 owners will be able to get a free copy in April.
I must admit that the line-up of PS Plus titles isn't startling or even mouth watering, but the addition of Zombi definitely makes it interesting.
