If you have a PlayStation Plus membership, you can download six more games for free in May. Today Sony ran down the PS Plus offering for next month.
The first free game is Guacamelee! Super Turbo Championship Edition for PS4. Guacamelee! is a 2D "Metroidvania" adventure with artwork inspired by Mexican folklore. The player learns a series of luchador attacks that they'll utilize in both combat and platforming. For example, you might use an upper-cut and dash combo to cross a chasm.
Guacamelee! Super Turbo Championship Edition features a number of features not seen in the original release. These enhancements include a new class of enemies, abilities and boss fight. Players can test their skills in a series of updated challenges along with two new levels.
The other PS4-only freebie in the May PS Plus collection is first-person adventure Ether One. In Ether One, the player is an employee of a memory retrieval company. They enter the memories of their patients and fix the damage by solving puzzles. To bring the game from PC to PS4, the development team rebuilt it in Unreal Engine 4.
PS Vita owners will get an exclusive freebie of their own as well: Murasaki Baby. This side-scrolling platformer sees players guiding a young girl through a realm filled with nightmares. The player uses the touchscreen to remove obstacles from the girl's path and lead her forward. The rear touchpad can also be utilized to alter the world's atmosphere.
The final three PS Plus games for May are available across PS4, PS3 and PS Vita. In The Unfinished Swan, players explore a colorless world in search of a missing swan. They use paint to add detail to the environment and help them follow the swan.
Hohokum is even more experimental. The player is a serpent that glides through surreal worlds and solve puzzles. There are no explicit tutorials so it's up to the player to explore the environment and figure out the rules of each world and its puzzles.
In Race the Sun, players control a spaceship driving through a landscape of procedurally generated obstacles. They keep flying until they hit one of these hazards or the sun sets. Power-ups seeded throughout the level make it easier for players to keep racing the sun. By completing missions through their career, players will earn special abilities and bonuses.
The free games for next month will be available starting on May 5th. In the meantime, go download the free games from April if you haven't yet. Again, you'll need a PlayStation Plus membership to take advantage of this giveaway.
