This week’s Nintendo update is what I would refer to as “A’ight.” There’s not a lot on offer here, but at least there are a couple of smaller titles, a sale on Knytt Underground, a new game for the Virtual Console on both the Wii U and 3DS and, most importantly, a new adventure starring everybody’s favorite top hat aficionado, Professor Layton.

Why don’t we just start with the heavy hitter, aye? Billed as the great professor’s final adventure, Professor Layton and the Azran Legacy offers everything fans of the series have come to expect, including sharp visuals, clever puzzles and witty dialogue.

“In Professor Layton and the Azran Legacy, journey across the globe aboard the airship Bostonius while solving mind-bending brainteasers themed to their environments,” reads a press release from Nintendo. “Can you help Professor Layton and his assistants solve the greatest puzzle mankind has ever faced and uncover the mystery surround the ancient Azran civilization?”

If you answered with a resounding “yes,” then you can pick this one up from the 3DS eShop starting today for 40 bucks.

The 3DS is also getting a pair of other games for players to enjoy this week including the bite-sized Tappingo and the beat-em-up NES action game, Renegade. The former is going for four bucks while the latter is available through the Virtual console for $5.

Over to the Wii U and your options are a bit more limited. You can grab the agricultural simulator, My Farm this week, or indulge in the same Virtual Console offering as on the 3DS in Renegade, and just so you know, My Farm is no where near as over-the-top or as exciting as Farming Simulator 2013. A real missed opportunity, too. According to the launch announcement, players will battle their way “through subways, parks, alleyways and parking lots in this NES brawler. Use your arsenal of kicks, punches and jump kicks, as well as a variety of throws to knock your opponents into submission.”

And in case you’re curious what this week’s Virtual Console title looks like in motion, here’s some gameplay footage of Renegade.

Finally, the Wii U will host a single sale this week, namely for the platforming adventure game, Knytt Underground. This lovely little title offers some stark aesthetics and laid-back exploration gameplay and, through March 3, you can swipe it for 50 percent off its regular asking price.
