Today Activision confirmed the release date for their open-world game Prototype 2. The game's set to arrive on the PS3, Xbox 360 and PC on April 24th, 2012.

Activision brought the game to San Diego Comic Con as well. The first public presentations of the game will take place at the Activision booth (#5445) on the show floor. They'll hold live demos every 15 minutes. Unfortunately, you won't be able to get any hands-on time with it.

"We know our fans have been clamoring to find out when they would be able to get their hands-on PROTOTYPE 2, and the whole studio is excited that we can finally reveal the timing," said Ken Rosman, Studio Head, Radical Entertainment. "We're also thrilled to be at the point where we can show the game directly to our fans. It's always rewarding to see those first time reactions to what we've been working on for the past couple years, and we can't wait for them to see some of Sgt. James Heller's amazing new shape-shifting abilities at San Diego Comic-Con."

Activision will also be holding a raffle at SDCC for a limited edition leather jacket that resembles the one protagonist Sergeant James Heller wears in the game. The other prize for the raffle is an Xbox 360 with a custom Alex Mercer skin. The Prototype 2 team will also be handing out t-shirts, posters, and foam blade arms.

If you're not at SDCC, you won't go away completely empty-handed today. Activision released the first of three parts of a CGI trailer today, entitled "Homecoming."
