EA Play announced The Sims 3 Pets today, a new animal-centric addition to the Sims franchise. Sims 3 Pets will be a standalone game on the Xbox 360, PS3 and 3DS and an expansion pack for the PC and Mac.
In Sims 3 Pets, players will be able to create and customize cats and dogs and control them. There are over a hundred different kinds of cats and dogs to choose from, and they can breed to create even more possibilities. These pets can also be shared with friends.
Some features are exclusive to one platform or another. The Xbox 360 version lets players control pets and Sims with voice commands via Kinect. The 3DS Pets will dole out Karma points depending on how much you walk, and you can use these points for good or evil. The 3DS' StreetPass feature lets players give pets to other Pets owners in their vicinity. PC/Mac owners will get to create, customize, and control horses in addition to dogs and cats.
Pre-order customers will be upgraded to the Limited Edition. The Limited Edition's exclusive content will vary from platform to platform. For example, Xbox 360 and PS3 players will get new breeds while PC gamers will get access to a pet store where they can socialize with other Sims and obtain new objects.
