Skylanders Giants Toys Headed To McDonald's Happy Meals

It seems like Skylanders are everywhere these days, including McDonald’s Happy Meals. For the next month, Activision Publishing and McDonald’s USA LLC have partnered up to bring nine Skylanders Giants toys to every child’s favorite fast food combo.
For the record, these Happy Meal toys won’t interact with the Skylanders video games they hail from. They will, however, each have their own play feature like swinging arms, firing projectiles, etc. From April 12 through May 2, Happy Meals will come loaded with a toy taken from the Skylanders Gianst video game, including Spyro, Gill Grunt, Drobot, Chop Chop, Ignitor, Jet-Vac, Tree Rex, Crusher and Kaos.
In case you haven’t heard, Skylanders are kind of a big deal. Who would have thought that a video games designed around bringing action figures to life would be such a hit? Okay, so maybe the concept seems pretty obvious, but you’ve got to hand it to Activision for being the one to not only think it up, but also implement it in an extremely successful fashion.
While the latest title in the franchise, SWAP Force, isn’t ready for prime time yet, that doesn’t mean kids (and kids at heart) can’t get their Skylanders fix in the next month through McDonald’s.
“We’re excited to offer our fans another great way to experience this signature brand, and we couldn’t be more pleased to add McDonald’s to our roster of incredible partners,” said Activision Publishing VP of global licensing and partnerships, Ashley Maidy.
Starting this Friday, you can look for the Skylanders Giants toys in McDonald’s Happy Meals in the U.S. and Canada through May 2. Those of you living in other regions can expect the toys to “rollout in other select countries later this year.”
